Who is, and who has been, an officer of a company is on a public register. This page sets out what that means for how a director or a firm is described by search engines and AI assistants, and how the work is done from outside the UK.

Executive reputation advisory for the UK market is the work of keeping what search engines and AI assistants say about a director, a board or a firm consistent with the public record, starting with the registers on which that record sits. Mohammed Teto leads this work remotely, from Casablanca, and has no office, team or address in the United Kingdom.

## The issue in this market

**A public register of officers.** Companies House provides, free of charge, company information such as the registered address and date of incorporation, current and resigned officers, previous company names, document images and insolvency information ([GOV.UK, get information about a company](https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about-a-company)). A company's past officers, and its earlier names, are therefore available to anyone who looks.

**A public record of authorised firms and individuals.** The Financial Conduct Authority describes its Financial Services Register as "a public record of firms, individuals and other bodies that are, or have been, authorised by us or the PRA" ([FCA, Financial Services Register](https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/financial-services-register)). For a firm or an individual that appears on it, a past authorisation stays on the record.

The consequence for AI answers: a resigned appointment, a former company name or a lapsed authorisation is part of the public record, and can be presented as current if the sources that describe the person today do not say otherwise.

## The vocabulary used here

This page uses British spelling and the terms of UK registers. No claim is made about how often each term is searched.

|---|---|---|
| Current and resigned officers | The wording used on GOV.UK for those who hold, or have held, office in a company | [The issue in this market](#issue) |
| Previous company names | The earlier names of a company, kept on the register | [Decisions that trigger the work](#decisions) |
| FS Register | The FCA's public record of authorised firms and individuals | [The issue in this market](#issue) |
| Board-level reputation advisory | Advice to a board on how the company and its directors are described | [Corporate AI reputation](https://mohammedteto.com/corporate-ai-reputation/) |
| Executive reputation management | A leader's public record, and its accuracy | [Executive reputation](https://mohammedteto.com/executive-reputation/) |

## Who this is for

- **Directors and non-executive directors** Whose appointments, past and present, are on the public register.
- **Boards and company secretaries** Responsible for how the company and its directors are described.
- **Partners in professional firms** Whose individual records are part of what the firm offers.
- **Individuals on the FS Register** Whose authorisations, current and former, are public.
- **Institutions** Whose leadership is described by official pages, press and reference sources at once.

<a id="decisions"></a>

## Decisions that trigger the work

| Situation | What can be checked | What goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| A board appointment | Current and resigned officers on the register | A resigned appointment is described as current |
| A company that changed its name | Previous company names | The assistant describes the company under its former name, or as two companies |
| A move between regulated firms | Entries on the FS Register | A former authorisation is attached to the present firm |
| A partner joining a professional firm | The partner's earlier roles | The firm's page and the individual's profiles give different dates |
| A company with an insolvency in its past | Insolvency information on the register | A director of a later, unrelated company is associated with it |

<a id="sources"></a>

## Sources and language

**British English.** The reference version follows British spelling and usage throughout: 'organisation', 'authorised', dates written day first. One record does not mix conventions.

**Registers before profiles.** Where the register and a profile disagree on a date or a role, the register is the version others can check. The reference record is aligned with it.

**Search, media, corporate communications and AI answers read together.** A board sees one question: how the company and its directors are described. The work covers the four surfaces, because the same sources can feed all four. Who owns each part inside the organisation is set out in [who should own it](https://mohammedteto.com/corporate-ai-reputation/#governance).

**Reference sources.** English Wikipedia strongly discourages editing by people with a conflict of interest and asks for disclosed proposals on the article's talk page ([Wikipedia, conflict of interest](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest)). A Google knowledge panel is generated automatically; the person or an official representative can claim it and suggest changes ([Google, knowledge panel help](https://support.google.com/knowledgepanel/answer/9163198)).

<a id="discretion"></a>

## Discreet advice

The work is advisory and is not publicised. What is on a public register stays there; the aim is that current sources state the present position clearly. Nothing is published about an engagement without written approval, and a first message should describe the concern in general terms ([privacy policy](https://mohammedteto.com/privacy-policy/)).

## How the work is done remotely

1. **Baseline.** What search engines and AI assistants say today, recorded in English with a UK location where the tools allow it, engine by engine.
2. **Register check.** The entries on the public registers for the person and the companies concerned, compared with profiles, firm pages and press.
3. **Reference version.** One record, in British English, consistent with the registers.
4. **Corrections and evidence.** Requests to publishers and profile owners. Legal routes are a question for a solicitor and are outside this work.
5. **Measurement.** The same questions, repeated at a fixed interval, as described in [AI search intelligence](https://mohammedteto.com/ai-search-intelligence/).

Meetings are held by video. The method is [The Authority Architecture System](https://mohammedteto.com/method/); the engagements are described on the pages for [leaders](https://mohammedteto.com/leaders/) and [organisations](https://mohammedteto.com/organizations/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Do you have an office in London or elsewhere in the UK?

No. The work is led remotely from Casablanca, and meetings are held by video. This site claims no office, team or address in the United Kingdom.

### Can a resigned directorship be removed from what AI assistants say?

Not through this work. A resigned appointment is part of the public register. What can be done is to make sure current sources state the present role clearly, so that a past appointment is not presented as a current one.

### Why does an AI assistant describe our company under its old name?

One possible reason: sources that still use the former name are more numerous, or more prominent, than those that use the current one. Previous company names remain on the public register; the current name has to be stated consistently on the sources the company controls.

### Are fees quoted in pounds?

No. Fees are published in US dollars on the investment page and are the same in every market. They are not converted.
