# In the United States, part of a leader's record sits in public filings and registers.

When a name is checked before a decision, the answer now comes from AI assistants as well as search engines. This page sets out what is specific to the US market, and how the work is done from outside it.

AI reputation management for the US market is the work of making sure that what search engines and AI assistants say about a leader or a company matches the public record: filings, professional registers, media and reference sources. Mohammed Teto leads this work remotely, from Casablanca, and has no office, team or address in the United States.

## The issue in this market

Two features of the US market shape the work.

**Part of the record is in public databases.** Companies and individuals file with the Securities and Exchange Commission through EDGAR, whose public database is free to access. Among those filings are Forms 3, 4 and 5, the security ownership and transaction reports filed by corporate insiders ([SEC, about EDGAR](https://www.sec.gov/submit-filings/about-edgar)). For people who sell securities or give financial advice, FINRA's BrokerCheck provides a summary report on employment history, qualifications and disclosure events ([FINRA](https://www.finra.org/investors/protect-your-money/ask-and-check)).

**The founder and the company can be checked together.** In a funding round, a board appointment or an acquisition, the person and the business may be looked up in the same sitting. An inconsistency between a founder's profile and a company filing is visible to anyone who compares them.

The consequence for AI answers is direct: a record that exists in official sources and is contradicted by profiles and press gives an assistant several versions to choose from. How that happens is explained in [how AI systems form a description](https://mohammedteto.com/ai-reputation/#how).

## The vocabulary used here

## Who this is for

- **Founders and CEOs** Before a funding round, a sale or a listing.
- **Executives and directors of companies that file with the SEC** Whose name appears in public filings.
- **Investors and partners at investment firms** Who are themselves assessed by founders and limited partners.
- **Firms in professional services** Whose partners' records are part of what is sold.
- **Leaders based outside the United States** Who are raising capital, hiring or selling there, and whose record exists mostly in another language.

<a id="decisions"></a>

## Decisions that trigger the work

| Situation | What the reader checks | What goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| A funding round | The founder's history, prior companies, disputes | A former company's problems are attached to the current one |
| A board or executive appointment | Roles, dates, mandates | Titles and dates differ between profile, filing and press |
| An acquisition | Leadership, ownership, track record | The acquirer's assistant describes the company by an old positioning |
| A senior hire | Whether the leader is credible | An outdated article dominates the summary |
| A role at a company that files with the SEC | Insider filings under the person's name | The name on the filing and the name on profiles differ |
| Hiring a financial professional | The BrokerCheck summary | The assistant's summary and the register disagree on dates or firms |
| Entering the US market from abroad | Who this person is | Little exists in English; the assistant fills the gap from thin sources |

<a id="sources"></a>

## Sources and language

**American English.** The reference version follows US spelling, titles and date order (month first) throughout, so that one record does not mix conventions.

**Reference sources in English.** English Wikipedia strongly discourages editing by people with a conflict of interest and asks for disclosed proposals on the article's talk page ([Wikipedia, conflict of interest](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest)). A Google knowledge panel is generated automatically; the person or an official representative can claim it and suggest changes ([Google, knowledge panel help](https://support.google.com/knowledgepanel/answer/9163198)).

**Records in other languages.** For a leader whose career was built elsewhere, the English record may be the thinnest. The work then includes an English reference version aligned with the original, not a translation of marketing copy.

<a id="providers"></a>

## Advisor, agency, platform or reputation firm

Four kinds of provider are commonly offered for different needs. None is the right choice for everything.

| Type of provider | What it does | When it fits | What to check before choosing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reputation firm | Crisis response, legal coordination, work on search results | A crisis, a harmful result, a dispute | Whether long-term evidence building is in scope |
| Agency | Content, PR, SEO at volume, with a team | Campaigns, sustained publication | Who defines the narrative and the entity |
| Monitoring platform | Tracks mentions and AI answers across many prompts | Measurement at scale, for a category | Who decides what to change, and makes the change |
| Independent advisor | Narrative, entity, evidence and sources for one leader or one organization | Material stakes attached to one name | No campaigns at volume, no live crisis handling |

This site describes the fourth. In an active crisis or a legal dispute, a reputation firm and US counsel come first.

## How the work is done remotely

1. **Baseline.** What search engines and AI assistants say today, recorded in English, with a US location where the tools allow it, engine by engine.
2. **Sources.** The filings, registers, profiles, press and reference sources that describe the entity, and where they disagree.
3. **Reference version.** One record, in American English, that the other sources are aligned with.
4. **Corrections and evidence.** Requests to publishers and profile owners; evidence published for the claims that matter.
5. **Measurement.** The same questions, repeated, as described in [AI search intelligence](https://mohammedteto.com/ai-search-intelligence/).

Meetings are held by video. The method is [The Authority Architecture System](https://mohammedteto.com/method/); the engagements are those described for [leaders](https://mohammedteto.com/leaders/) and [organizations](https://mohammedteto.com/organizations/).

## Frequently asked questions

### Do you have an office in the United States?

No. The work is led remotely from Casablanca, and meetings are held by video. This site claims no office, team or address in the United States.

### Can you work with a US company from abroad?

Yes. The sources this work relies on are public and online, and the baseline is recorded in English, engine by engine. What cannot be done remotely, such as US legal advice or crisis media relations, is outside the scope and stated as such.

### Which public records about an executive do you look at?

Those that exist for the person: SEC filings available through EDGAR, professional registers such as FINRA's BrokerCheck where they apply, company pages, press and reference sources. The aim is to find where they disagree.

### Are fees different for US clients?

No. Fees are published in US dollars on the investment page and are the same in every market.
