Mohammed TetoAI Reputation & Authority
Founders and CEOs

Your name is read as evidence about the company.

Investors, buyers and candidates can look up the founder as well as the firm. This page explains what is specific to a founder's record, and whether this approach is the right one for you.

Reputation management for a founder or a CEO is the work of putting two records in order together, the person's and the company's: in the sources the founder controls, and by requesting corrections elsewhere. It fits a founder whose record is incomplete, outdated or inconsistent with what the company says, and who has real facts to put in order. It does not fit a wish for a larger audience, and it does not replace the company's own communication.

Is this your situation?

  • A financing or a sale is coming The people on the other side may read about you before they read the documents you send.
  • You are hiring above yourself A senior candidate looks up the person they would report to.
  • The company changed A pivot, a new name or a new category, and the older description still circulates.
  • Your title changed Founder, then chief executive, then chair, and sources that kept the first one.
  • An earlier venture is still attached to your name Sold, closed or renamed, and described as current.

What is specific to a founder's record

Two entities are read as one. A question about the company can return a sentence about you, and a question about you can return the company's description. When the two disagree on a date, a role or what the company does, there may be no stable version for an answer to repeat. How a person and an organization are told apart, and linked, is the subject of entity optimization.

You are your own main source. Early on, much of what exists about a founder is often written by the founder or by the company: the site, the profiles, the announcements. An account supported only by its subject is thin, and the situation has a diagnostic page: weak independent sources.

The record moves faster than the sources. A company can change its positioning in a quarter. The interviews, directories and profiles that described the earlier version stay where they are until someone asks for them to be updated.

Earlier chapters stay in view. A previous company, a former co-founder or an abandoned product is part of the record. The work makes the current chapter clear and correctly dated; it does not erase the earlier ones.

Start with the person or with the company?

What you observe Where to start
The company is described correctly, you are not Leaders
You are well described, the company is vague or placed in the wrong category Organizations
The two descriptions contradict each other The person, then the alignment between the two records
Neither appears in answers to category questions The company, because the question is about the category
You are confused with a namesake The person: see confused with someone else

This table is a rule of thumb. The order is decided on evidence, after an assessment has recorded what is said today.

Where the approach fits, and where it does not

It fits when there is a real record to put in order: a company that exists, roles that can be dated, results that can be documented, and sources that are wrong, old or silent.

It does not fit when the aim is reach, followers or a personal audience. That is personal branding, a different discipline, compared in executive reputation and personal branding.

It is too early for a Build when the company has nothing yet that a third party could confirm. In that case the first step is to produce the evidence, not to arrange it. An assessment can still be useful at that stage, to identify which evidence to build first.

It is not enough alone during a dispute or a crisis. Legal counsel and crisis communications come first.

How it starts

With a private assessment: a confidential record of what search engines and AI assistants say today about you and about the company, and of the sources they rely on. The engagement that follows for a person is described in reputation and authority for leaders; when the assessment shows that the work starts with the company, it is the one for organizations. Both follow The Authority Architecture System. The symptoms most often met are indexed in Problems, and related analyses are collected in Insights.

Frequently asked questions

Should a founder work on their own reputation or on the company's first?

It depends on which record is wrong. If the company is described correctly and the founder is not, the work starts with the person. If the two descriptions contradict each other, the person's record is fixed first and the two are then aligned.

Does a founder need a personal website?

Not always. What is needed is one reference version of the record that the founder controls and that other profiles can align with. A page on the company's site can play that role; a personal site becomes useful when the founder's activity extends beyond one company.

Will this make an AI assistant recommend my company?

No one can guarantee that. The work makes the record about you and the company accurate, consistent and supported by sources that can be checked. What an assistant then writes is outside anyone's control.

Is this the same as founder-led marketing?

No. Founder-led marketing uses the founder's voice to reach buyers. This work concerns what is recorded about the founder, and whether it is accurate when someone checks.
